   5060    Career    Hello, I have been working and educating my self in the media and telecommunication industry since 1996. I earned a Certificate as Digital Video Editor from the Macromedia University for Media and Communication (MHMK) in Cologne/Germany and also a Certificate in Project Management from the Chamber of Commerce in Hamburg/Germany. My concentration was mainly in the fields TV/Film, Multimedia and Web. Residing since 2006 in the US (Long Beach, CA) I have difficulties to position my self in any professional field. I think it is time to work towards a degree. Researching my options I came across your institution. However I am not the youngest (37 years old) and do not have a High School diploma or equivalent but would like to earn a degree. That in mind I want to ask if my background would permit me to be accepted in your college.

I'm used to the semester system, and while in the quarter system, I plan to work full time. How many units can I study based on previous statistics that people generally be successful? But let's say student is in the semester system online or not online, but wish to work full time. What's the difference between semester and quarter system and are these the two common calendar periods in US education? Please advice. Thanks. And one more thing, full time is working 40 or more hours per week. Right? Thanks again.

   5056    Academic    What's the difference between quarter and semester system colleges? I read something about studying three unit class in one semester while working. One quarter is approximately eight weeks, so can it be manageable to study one class per quarter while working full time? Another line of question. What happens if the student transfers credits from City College of Long Beach to another university public or private or what? Will the grades from the City College of Long Beach be seen to the another college's transcript? Let's say student earned "A" grade in City College of Long Beach. Will that transfer to the new college transcript the college student is transferring into? What if an "F" grade is being transferred. Will that "F" grade ever show up to the new college the student is transferring into? Thanks.
