Question:
I heard that LBCC students who complete minimum college transfer requirements have a guaranteed spot at CSULB, but only if they are incoming 2011 students. Is this true? Any way it can extend to me? (This is my first semester at LBCC.)
Answer:
Thank you for asking your Quick Question online.  The Long Beach Promise has several components; the one to which you refer has this criteria:

Must have successfully completed CSU General Education (GE) Requirements in Written Communication, Oral Communication, Critical Thinking, and Mathematics/Quantitative Reasoning which must be completed by the spring for fall transfer;
Must have 60 transferable semester units (90 quarter units) completed by the end of summer before fall transfer;
Must have a minimum overall college GPA of 2.00 or higher in all transferable college course work if you are a California resident, non-residents must have a GPA of 2.40;
Must be in good standing at the last college or university attended in regular session; and
Must successfully complete a minimum of 30 semester units (or 45 quarter units) in courses approved to meet the CSU GE requirements.
Additionally, applicants to non-impacted majors who meet the minimum CSU criteria as outlined above will be considered in the competitive round.  Applicants to non-impacted majors who are transferring directly from LBCC and have completed at least 30 units at LBCC are eligible for the Long Beach Promise and will be held to the minimum CSU criteria as listed above.
If a student is applying to an impacted major, the student must meet the supplemental admission requirements for that major in addition to the requirements above.  For CSULB, the supplemental requirements can be found on this website:  http://www.csulb.edu/depts/enrollment/html/impacted_major.html.
Hope that helps.
